What grade do you need to pass a class at IUPUI? ›

General Education Requirements

A minimum of 120 credit hours is required for either a B.A. or a B.S. degree in the IU School of Liberal Arts. A minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 (C) is required for graduation. A minimum of 40 credit hours must be at the 300-400 level.

Undergraduate courses—and the majority of courses at IUPUI—are scheduled based on an academic term. There are three major terms (fall, spring, and summer), within which are sessions (e.g., first eight weeks, second eight weeks).

IUPUI offers numerous educational options outside the traditional classroom. These classes are found at convenient locations, at times stretching over seven days and nights, and, in addition to regular course formats, are offered online or , on TV.

Most colleges and universities generally consider a "D" (or a 60% to 69% score) as a passing grade. It's important to note that this minimum or lowest passing grade standard can significantly vary depending on the institution or major.

In general, undergraduate students may take no more than 18 credits in the fall or spring terms and no more than 14 credits in a summer term. Superior students may exceed these limits with written permission from the dean addressed to the Office of the Registrar.

After a period of unprecedented change, IU Indianapolis became official on July 1, 2024. The realignment began in 2022 when Indiana University and Purdue University issued a joint memorandum of understanding to separate Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) into two institutions.

The Indianapolis campus, being located in a large city, offers a more urban campus experience, with access to city life, internships, and job opportunities. Some students might prefer the big city feel of Indianapolis, while others might enjoy the close-knit college town vibe at West Lafayette.

Can continuing IUPUI students switch to Purdue West Lafayette programs? Continuing IUPUI students who want to pursue Purdue West Lafayette programs will apply as transfer students. However, they will not be charged an application fee.

Purchasing an IU parking permit does not guarantee the holder a parking space in their specified zone. Vehicles without permits must pay to park on campus. Visitors parking in garages and pay lots must pull a ticket to enter, or park in timed metered spaces and pay fees at the kiosks.

Ball Residence Hall is a traditional freshman co-ed residence hall, housing 325 students in single, double and triple rooms.

Passing Grade: A, B, C, or D (including pluses and minuses). Internal Grade: A grade record maintained by the registrar or a unit for internal purposes that does not appear on a student's transcript.

The normal grading range is from 55 to 100. The number grades correspond to letter grades as reflected in the chart below. The minimum passing grade is 70 (C). Any grades between 55 and 69 (D and F) are considered failing grades for which unit credit is not earned.

You'll usually need to receive a letter grade between A and D to pass a class, often the numerical equivalent of 65 percent or higher. Receiving an F—which stands for “fail”—indicates that you did not pass the class.

A grade of C or better is required to earn a Passed; a C- or below will earn a Not Passed grade. A grade of C- may satisfy many requirements (e.g., General Education, elective) but a Not Passed grade will not earn any credit or satisfy requirements.
